JAVANESE TRADITIONAL CEREMONIES

Our ancestors in the past have done many kinds of traditional ceremonies since in mother’s womb, birth, adulthood, marriage, until death. The series of Javanese traditional ceremonies are the heritage in which our ancestors pass to us. We should preserve these traditions as cultural events that characterize us as a region and nation in general. Unfortunately, with the development of the ages, traditional ceremonies are abandoned by younger generations to search for an easier practice. This fact is very concerning towards the preservation of our tradition. Tjokrosuharto as a store that sells various attributes of traditional ceremonies and crafts tries to preserve Javanese tradition by supplying various products for traditional ceremonies ranging from equipment to traditional dresses. We also provide information to our customers about series of Javanese traditional ceremonies such as Tingkepan Ceremony (mitoni-marking of 7th pregnancy month), Tedak Siten, Marriage ceremonies, and etcetera. For this reason, we gather various sources and literature related with Javanese traditional ceremonies. The procedures of these traditional ceremonies symbolize daily life of Javanese people which are careful for the reason to achieve physical safety and mental wellness in life. If we go deeper in the meaning of various traditional ceremonies, we will find that all acts of life are prayers to God. It all excludes itself from superstitions.
